Dystopia is a sludge metal and crust punk band that formed in 1991 in Oakland, California. Dystopia was well known in the crust punk scene because of the band's bleak, misanthropic imagery. Their sound includes heavy sludge riffs but also includes influences from genres such as grindcore and crust punk. Dystopia's Lyrics often express notions on politics, racial equality, and substance abuse.
